  1. Obviously there are advantages to better technology and social media, but I think they actually have a negative effect on journalistic integrity. Instead of getting the news story right, they simply want to get it first. This leads to frequent mistakes and “dumbing down” of the actual story into sound-bites.

  2. Prior to reading this story I thought the death of the newspaper meant death to journalism in general. I thought social media and hand held devices meant access to poorly written watered down news. What I now I realize is that this era of digitization is an opportunity to change an adapt and to reach a wider audience.
